Gaining Good Health Through Happiness
A quote from Josh Billings says “There’s lots of people in this world who spend so much time watching their health that they haven’t the time to enjoy it. I think this is a plug against hypochondriacs.
Is good health a factor in ensuring our happiness. Can we be happy when we do not feel good. It can be done. I know of people who are suffering from cancer and in tremendous pain that bless the lives of the people around them. They simply choose to be happy in spite of their circumstances. How do they do it?
The 1948 World Health Organization stated that “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. This then may be how those individuals who choose to be happy can be happy. Have you ever found that the mere choice of your mood can determine your mood. When you are out walking, if you walk slow and depressed, you become depressed. If you pick up the pace and smile, you can by the process become happy. It is all in the outlook.
The state of happiness seems to involve gratitude, forgiveness, optimism, hope, integrity, and the ability of create good harmonious relationships. These characteristics benefit not ourselves but also those around us. Haven’t you found that a happy person attracts a crowd. There are negative emotions that generate unhappiness. You can think of them, so since they are negative, we will not list them. Just avoid them. Life is too short for negativism.
It seems that happy people do have better health and they recover from surgeries quicker. They also cope better with pain, have lower blood pressure and a longer life expectancy. I think this is because our bodies take the clues of how to react from our emotions. If we are happy, the organs act and react to germs and diseases in a different manner than when we are negative.
A quote from Quentin Regestein says “The…patient should be made to understand that he or she must take charge of his own life. Don’t take your body to the doctor as if he were a repair shop.
That said then, let us decide to be healthy. If we will only eat good natural nutrients, exercise, take an occasional vitamin supplement to enhance our good eating habits and choose the state of happiness, we can take control of our lives. We can not afford to be going to the doctor for every little illness. Then let us be happy and avoid illness.
