Over Time The Hair Transplant Cost Balances Out

When looking for a solution to balding and hair thinning many people want to find the cheapest alternative possible. This is OK but unfortunately this alternative is very rarely the best alternative. Cheap is not always better, especially when you are talking about how you look to the rest of the world. I mean really, what is it worth to you to look young and vital instead of ten years older than you really are?

Hair transplant costs are determined by the number of hair follicles that need to be implanted and the general per graft charge of the hair restoration clinic. The per graft charge is usually between $3 and $7 each. This varies based on a number of factors including the geographical location of the clinic, the experience of the cosmetic surgeon, and the overhead of the clinic. For argument’s sake lets take the highest number as our hair transplant cost. This means every hair graft will cost seven dollars.

Now lets choose a number of grafts for our comparison. Two thousand grafts would be a lot of hair follicles to implant but again lets estimate large. Let’s say we have 3000 grafts transplanted from our hair donation at the back of the head to the bald spot on the top of the head or the crown area. So our procedure will cost $21,000. That seems like a lot but lets look at a comparison.

First off, lets assume our patient is forty years old and he will live to be 75 which is the average age expectancy of men in the US. This means he will enjoy having a full head of hair for 35 years. Dividing the cost by the years gives us cost of $600 per year. Per month that is $50. So for $50 a month our patient has hair growing on his head that he will never have to worry about.

The other option is to spend money on some hair treatment every month that may or may not re-grow the hair. The charge for this solution that possibly may help with our patient’s balding problem is going to be much more than $50 per month. Probably more like twice that. So for twice the money you can try to re-grow hair with no guarantee it will work.

It seems to me that having hair restoration surgery is the only good answer. You get hair growing almost immediately and you even save money.
