Getting Himalayan Goji





The Himalayan goji has been held in high regards by the health industry due to the numerous health benefits that it can give. The goji fruit has more minerals and vitamins compared to other berries that you can find. It also has one of the most powerful antioxidants that can help increase your immune system, strength and defenses against numerous ailments from cancer to a simple fever. The fact that the Himalayan goji is an excellent tool when it comes to losing weight has added well to the total package.

Himalayan Goji Berries

Goji berries are bright red in color and are very appealing to the eye. They approximately have the same size as grapes do and come in the shapes of oblong and ovals.  The taste is as appealing as it looks. It comes as a cross between cherries and cranberries – something a bit sour but dominantly sweet. The berries have other names too – some call them Wolfberry, Boxtorn or Matrimony Vine.

These fruits are very sensitive that is why when you harvest them it is best that you do not pick them off the vines with your hands. This will cause oxidation in the goji berries, turning it into black and making it spoil. The best way to gather these berries is to simply shake them off the vines.

The Himalayan goji was nicknamed as the “happy berry”. This is due to the fact that eating the berries regularly makes people feel calmer, content and happier with the way their life is going.

Getting Goji Berries

People often make the assumption that goji berries can only be found in the Himalayas. This is not true. Goji fruit products have been boasting that they are using Himalayan goji because of the fact that those are the kind that is considered to be the best quality goji berries. This is so because they are harvested from the remote valleys in the Himalayas – an area where there is no pollution and where the plant has grown well without the influence of pesticides.

Goji berries grow in abundance in the regions of China, Mongolia and Tibet. The Goji berries have affected the way of living for the people in these regions. In fact, celebrations have been made in Mongolia and Tibet to commemorate the Himalayan goji due to the longer life and the better quality of life that it is able to give to the people.
